Congratulations to Jonathan Scales on the release of a new video of his composition, “Tethervane” for double second duet! “Tethervane” is cinematic, intense, and cosmic, inspired by abstract concepts surrounding human connection.

“Tethervane” was commissioned by Jonah Payne and Louis Raymond-Kolker, who premiered the piece on our first Composer Spotlight concert in July 2020. This video features modern dance performed by Inside Out alum Sienna Blaw!

The sheet music for “Tethervane” and many of Jonathan’s other compositions are available on his website at jonscales.com/sheetmusic. We’re always grateful for Jonathan’s contributions to the steel pan art form, and we look forward to seeing and hearing what comes next!

Congratulations to the PAN IN UNITY team on the release of their “PAN IN UNITY” Medley, arranged by Len “Boogsie” Sharpe! This video is a virtual collaboration between 691 musicians from 23 different countries, and includes 12 members of Inside Out Steelband, plus many of our friends in the steelband world!

Congratulations to Jonathan Scales Fourchestra on the release of their album Mindstate Music! Jonathan Scales Fourchestra performed with Inside Out Community Steelband and the McCallum High School Knights of Steel in 2015. (See video of the performance on our YouTube channel.)

Mindstate Music is a concerto for the Fourchestra with full steelband accompaniment. Several Inside Out members and alumni performed on this album, including Audrey Holden, Diana Loomer, Lauren Molloy, and Louis Raymond-Kolker (tenor pan).

Congratulations to Tracy Thornton on the release of Pan Rocks RUSH! The Documentary, featuring the Pan Rocks Steel Orchestra, led by Tracy Thornton and with Mike Portnoy, Pete Thorn, Philip Bynoe, Walter Ino, and produced by Matt Starr.

Inside Out Steelband and Bow High School Steelband performed with Tracy in 2015, and Bowie played on the Pan Rocks show at PASIC in 2015 in San Antonio. (See a highlight video of the performance on YouTube.)

Pan Rocks RUSH! features covers of three classic Rush songs, “Spirit of Radio”, “Tom Sawyer”, and “YYZ”. Inside Out’s Executive Director, CJ Menge, and community member and valued instructor, Carolyn Trowbridge, both played on the album.
