Born and raised in the twin-island Republic of Trinidad & Tobago, Josanne Francis is an internationally known steelpan performer and music educator. Her music delivers that special ‘extra’ that separates her from even the greats, and catapults listeners into a unique and exceptional place.
With hands that seem to float like the wings of a butterfly with a ‘wand-like’ touch, her music is not devoid of power when needed. Ms. Francis’ music blends together and draws influences from traditional Calypso music, Jazz, Indian, Funk, Rock and Classical music- a unique mix which is not typical for the instrument.

Inside Out will be at Oskar Blues Brewery tonight for Amplify Austin!
Amplify Austin kicks off today and runs through tomorrow afternoon! Join us at Oskar Blues Brewery tonight (6-10PM) for their Amplify event.
Inside Out is excited to once again be a part of Amplify Austin, Austin’s 24 hour campaign of charitable giving. Any funds donated to Inside Out through Amplify Austin will go directly towards funding full-tuition scholarships for local middle school and high school students who could not otherwise afford to attend our annual Steelband Summer Camp.
We will have an information table set up tonight at Oskar Blues Brewery, where we will also be set up to accept donations.

Inside Out Steelband featuring Dave Longfellow and Eddie Dickerson

Inside Out Steelband presents a special concert featuring Virginia based steel pan artist Dave Longfellow and Austin violin/fiddle player Eddie Dickerson, backed by the Inside Out Community Steelband and the KIPP Austin Collegiate Steelband.
In the final performance of our 2017-2018 Inside Outreach concert series, Inside Out is featuring to two top musicians on their respective instruments combined with a 30 piece steelband. The Inside Out Community Steelband and the KIPP Austin Collegiate Steelband will play a mix of calypso, soca, reggae, classical, and pop charts, as well as the original compositions of steel pan guest composer and soloist Dave Longfellow. Austin based violin/fiddle master Eddie Dickerson will bring high energy as a soloist with the steelband, as well as in his own solo set. Don’t miss this unique show in the beautiful setting of the One World Theatre!

Inside Out Steelband proudly presents the 21st Annual Inside Out Steelband Festival! This year we are featuring internationally known guest artists Kendall Williams (steel pan) and Gerion Williams (drum set), performing alongside the combined steel bands of James Bowie High School and McCallum High School. The bands will be performing a diverse and energetic mix of Claypso, Soca, Brazilian, Pop, and Panorama style steel band music.

Composer and arranger Kendall Williams was born around the Trinidadian culture and adopted the country’s national instrument, the steel pan. He served as musical director and arranger for Crossfire Steel Orchestra (NY), and has also served as arranger for CASYM Steel Orchestra (NY), Brooklyn Steel Orchestra (NY), and Skiffle Steel Orchestra (Trinidad). Kendall received his BA in Music from Florida Memorial University, Masters of Music Degree in Music Theory & Composition at NYU Steinhardt, and is currently a PhD student in musical composition at Princeton University.
Trinidad based drum set artist Gerion Williams is considered one of the top drummers for steel band and soca music on the scene. He has performed and toured with many well-known artists and bands, including Bunji Garlin, Shurwayne Winchester, Maxi Priest, Asylum Vikings, Alternative Quartet, Invaders Steel Orchestra, and Pan Elders Steel Orchestra. Gerion also presents the annual Drummerville Rhythm Festival in Trinidad, which features local and international drummers and other musicians.
